The Future of Finance.

In the Government Finance Function, I'm really excited that we are really thinking about AI and new technologies. We're going to be at the cutting edge of this. We want to be innovative. We want to make sure that we're driving efficiency and effectiveness through the use of these tools. So it's a brilliant and exciting time to join us.

I'm definitely going to say the future of finance is going to be more automated.

[Voice three]

The amount of information we can now analyse, absorb, and the speed at which we can test that information has been incredibly transformational.

[Voice four]

For instance, something as simple as yesterday, someone had sent a broken link for a file. I needed to dig out the original. I had no idea where it was, and my inbox is quite full.

So I could ask Copilot, and it brought it back to me in probably 30 seconds.

[Voice five]

Being able to speed up production of reports and save me a bit of time, which can allow me to save... what do you call it? Be able to allow me to focus on other areas.

Some of the tools that we have rolling out across government departments, whether it's Microsoft Copilot, Claude, what that means in enhancing our ability to use Excel and use information dashboards and reporting tools has been quite impressive.

[Voice five]

So I can put it through a bit of AI, be able to get it to sense-check some of my work.

[Voice four]

Not everything can be done by AI, and we recognise that. So I'm using AI for the things where I can to work more effectively and then open up scope for more strategic work.

[Voice three]

It's changed the way I've worked, even just in the past 18 months.

[Voice four]

And I admit I was quite sceptical, but I'm loving it, and I keep learning more that it can do, and I'm telling everyone. It's quite exciting to be a part of.
