Zubeda Transcript

My name's Zubeda. I'm a Finance Business Partner at Cafcass, which stands for Children and Family Court Advisory Support Service.

Cafcass represents the children that go through family court proceedings. My role has been quite varied. It's not just been finance business partnering in terms of budget management. I've also been involved with managing policies, procedures, lots of finance learning development, you know, creating lots of learning resources for finance and non-finance staff, as well as working on projects like finance system implementations and upgrades.

The Government Finance Function for me is a collective community of finance people that are coming from all different organisations.

There's lots of opportunities, whether it's learning opportunities, attending conferences, networking etc. So it's a good way of bringing like-minded finance professionals together to share best practices and basically just bounce ideas off each other and to have a supportive network that you can turn to. I think that's really beneficial. So it all helps to enhance your learning and therefore enhance your career.

My number is 2,500 because Cafcass is the biggest employer of social workers in England, and we have approximately 2,500 staff working together collectively to provide (an exceptional) service for every child, everywhere, every time. And I just think the fact that we all pull together towards this one mission that drives, it motivates me.

The thing that makes me most proud to work where I work, is knowing that I'm making a difference to a child. I think that's really important, to know that what you're doing is impacting someone in a positive way. I think that's what drives me and I think that's what makes me proud to work for an organisation that does that.
