Life in the Government Finance Function (GFF) is all about community. Because behind our financials, figures and formulas is a vibrant, active network of people all pulling together. Everything we do has meaning: whether we’re working on pivotal projects that improve lives across the UK, or sharing knowledge with each other to grow our skills. That’s what drives us, and what makes being part of the GFF feel so special.
Hear from some of our colleagues about what it’s like being part of the GFF, in their own words.
Ministerial objectives are always changing. And that means our work is constantly evolving and taking twists and turns. It's really exciting to be part of.
We’re all ambitious about what finance can do. Which means we’re all passionate about developing our knowledge and skills for the future. We all learn from each other through networking, mentoring and events. And there are plenty of structured, highly specialised learning opportunities on offer too. Whether that’s internally through the Government Finance Academy, or external qualifications that help open up our career options. And it’s all led by us. So we can follow our interests and plan ahead for the kind of career we want to build.
We have a spirit of inclusion. We’re collaborative. We respect each other. And that means people feel their ideas are welcome.
A community only works if everyone feels they belong. That’s why creating a diverse, inclusive environment that prioritises everyone’s wellbeing is one of our most important goals.
We want every member of the GFF to feel included, supported and connected. No matter where they’re based. No matter what their role is. And no matter what background they’re from or how they identify. Because it’s by learning from each other and embracing our differences that we go from strength to strength, together. Along with our thriving networks, we’ve also got lots of work going on to ensure we’re doing our part to build a diverse community. One that reflects the society we serve every day.
